Outstanding reply and presentation for the Egyptian audience. PM Meles has shown a reasonable, legally strong and morally righteous case. It will go long way to convince some in Egypt that their predatory and outdated policy is obsolete. For Ethiopia and Ethiopians we must never forget, Egypt will continue to distablise Ethiopia for its own geopolitical and economic intereasts. Egypt will never be happy on anything less than a subservient and weak nation aka Sudan, which is almost an Egyptian protectorate. You can check many agreements signed between Sudan and Egypt to confirm this. Egypt is an agressive nation with its own sense of identity (superior). Apart from Abaye, our nation and Egypt will be on opposite ends of many issues eg Red sea coast, South Sudan, Eritrea and of course Somalia. Well done PM the right strategy for the moment. In the future we will need robust, no nonsense strategy on equal terms. In mean time continue to inform and shape Ethiopian public knowledge and opinion. | |

Hi Biniyebi You are very brave to say with confidence that "he has no love his country"! First of all, the word love even in the context of a man/woman relationship is very much abused as the many movies, books and real life tragedies testify. Second- How can you assess or measure the love PM Meles has for Ethiopia? I personally donot know whether he loves Ethiopia or how MUCH he loves Ethiopia. 1) What I do know is that PM Meles had very distorted view of Ethiopian nation hood/history when he came to power but over the last 5-10 years both in action and thought Meles has had major change in his view. A number of Ethiopian observers had stated that EHADEG and its leadership have shifted their views on Ethiopian history eg. Seye Abrha's many recent comments, the conflict between OLF and EHADEG on self determination. 2) His action and endeavour for the interest of Ethiopia be it on Nile river, AU leadership, Somlia or stand off with shabia proves beyond any doubt that he is no less in "Love" with Ethiopia than any other person. His action speak louder than any slogan. We may disagree with some aspects of his policies but it is unproven to label him with any negative remarks on his patriotism. Your point about his loyality will haunt Meles until he or his colleagues make a public statement or apologies for their misguided and wrong view of Ethiopian history/nationhood when they were Guerilla fighters.
